Are you wondering what a collaboration with Wildlife HERO would look like?
We are open to multiple options, including:
GRANT APPLICATIONS
Wildlife HERO can be a partner in grant applications, including as a PI, co-PI or Subawardee.
We are able to contribute to all stages of an application, from conceptualization to writing to submission.
For example, we were a partner on a successfully obtained grant for work on Hendra virus transmission, funded by the Burroughs Wildlife Foundation (PI: Prof. Raina Plowright).
CONTRACTING
A common way for us to collaborate and contribute is through contracting, where our skills are enlisted for specific work on existing or upcoming projects.
Some examples include:
-
Dr. Borremans has been asked to analyze infection data with the goal of uncovering the environmental drivers of transmission and spillover. That work includes getting acquainted with the data, collaborating with (and mentoring) students and PIs, refining the questions, designing statistical/mathematical models, and drafting and submitting a manuscript/report.
-
Dr. Borremans has been contracted to assist in field work on San Miguel island, disentangling California sea lions.
-
We developed and taught a collection of lectures for the Aquatic Animal Medicine Masters program for veterinarians, at CEU University (Valencia, Spain).
Collaborations can be of any size and duration, ranging from a quick analysis to leading a multi-institutional long-term project.
Most of our partners have been academic (university research groups, international) or non-profit (e.g. The Marine Mammal Center).
